Dr. John R. Monroe, Sr.

Having several family friends who were dentists, Dr. Monroe was drawn to dentistry because he likes working with his hands and enjoys helping people. He attended Washington and Lee University, where he received his bachelor’s in biology, then Clemson University, where he received a master’s in aquatic entomology, before graduating from MUSC College of Dental Medicine. He has been in private practice in upstate South Carolina since he graduated from dental school.

Dr. Monroe and his wife, Lillian, have one son, Jack. In his downtime, Dr. Monroe enjoys running, reading, following the Furman Paladins, and watching Braves baseball.

Meet the Team

Jessica

Dental Hygienist
Jessica started working at the practice in 2020. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Greenville Technical College. In addition to her dental hygiene license, she has an associate degree in health science. Jessica was first inspired to pursue a career in the dental field because her father was a dentist. She has been a dental hygienist for 18 years.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys art, writing, homeschooling, traveling, and international mission work. She is a mom to three children: two sons and a daughter.

Jennifer

Dental Hygienist
Jennifer joined the practice in 2022 and has been a hygienist for more than 20 years. Born and raised in North Carolina, Jennifer moved to Florida in 2016 to be closer to the beach and warm weather. But in 2021 she relocated to South Carolina to be near her daughter and granddaughter.

Jennifer is engaged, and she enjoys helping with her granddaughter. In her spare time, Jennifer loves to work out and run.

Angela

Kim

Office Manager
Kim started working at the practice back in 1988 when it was owned by Dr. Zaglin. She began working with Dr. Monroe in 2006. Kim completed her studies with Greenville Technical College’s dental assisting program. She is a certified dental assistant with nitrous oxide and CPR certifications as well.

Kim has been married since 1981 and is a mom to four adult children. She also has nine grandchildren, who are the joys of her life. In her spare time, Kim enjoys crafting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loves music and is a pianist at her church, where her husband is the pastor.

Gerry

Administrative Assistant/Dental Assistant

Gerry graduated from Tri-County Tech in 2013 as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant and is DANB certified. She has recently started at Greenville Technical College and is focused on small business management and office technologies.

Gerry is a single mother of two children born in Uganda, one adopted and one biological. Gerry enjoys anything creative, so her hobbies include Cake Decorating, Quilting and various other crafts and art forms. She enjoys gardening and watching things grow with her boys. Gerry is an avid reader and read 63 books last year. If you come into the office and recommend your favorite book you will be her best friend.
